In a monumental sride towards establishing affiliation, members of the Duty Solicitors Network (DSN) attended the just concluded ROLAC Program.
The Rule of Law and Anti-corruption (ROLAC) Programme in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Justice Sexual and Gender-based Violence Response Unit implemented by International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and funded by the European Union brought together legal experts, medical practitioners, Nigerian police force, governing officials and civil society advocate to engage in comprehensive discussions focused on access to justice for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence agency coordination.
The program was designed to explore access to justice for survivors of sexual and gender based violence. It consisted of Keynote speeches and panel discussions, all geared towards fostering a shared commitment to enhancing the legal and judicial frameworks that sustains the strengthening of inter-agency coordination.
The Program focused on several critical areas:
Inter-Agency Coordination to address SGBV
Coordination of SGBV Response across Commands and Police Gender Desks
A survivor centered Approach, Emergency response, Social support and Justice for survivors with disabilities
Proving Sexual violation and the role of SARCS
What justice means for a survivor

A major strength of the program was the participation of distinguished resource persons who shared their expertise, experience, and insights. These individuals drawn from various sectors, played a pivotal role in enriching the relevance of the program’s outcome.
Dr. Abraham Terfa, a Senior Research Fellow National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies provided an in-depth of the appropriation and accountability for sector-wide change.
The panel discussion led by Professor Cheluchi Onyemelukwe shed light on Inter-agency coordination to address SGBV. They also shed insights on planned and ongoing initiatives to improve SGBV response.
Through their expert guidance, the resource persons not only informed the discussions but also inspired actionable ideas that participants can apply in their local contexts.
The program was indeed a vital platform for advancing the access to justice for survivors of sexual and gender based violence and how inter-agency coordination can be strengthened.
It is only pertinent that one continue to build on the momentum generated by this program. By working with others and other agencies and drawing on the expertise of leaders in law, governance, and civil society, we can ensure that the Rule of law remains a pillar of justice, accountability and sustainable development thereby gaining access to justice for survivors and Gender-based Violence and being able to strengthen Inter-agency coordination.
